I'm a teacher, writer, editor, and researcher living in Colorado Springs. Outside of tutoring student writers on a regular basis, I've also worked as a senior research fellow with the Institute for Public Dialogue, a rabid freelancer partnering with businesses and non-profits, and a consultant filing numerous Freedom of Information Act requests on behalf of investigative reporters. My politically oriented and academic writing has been published on my own blog (blog.chrisbacavis.com), Reformed Libertarian, and Freedom Bunker, while my creative writing has been featured in Empirical Magazine, The Penwood Review, The Dial, and the short story collection Fireside Dreams.

I earned my Bachelor's in English, with a Communication minor, from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS). Since then, I've continued to do English/communication tutoring, freelance editing, and research work for more than a dozen business, creative, and education-oriented clients. I also have at least two years of experience in editing written content for self-published authors, specifically nonfiction/journalism, fiction, and short stories.

I'm most motivated by opportunities that I know will benefit and shape me in terms of developing relationships, acquiring skills, and building in knowledge. As such, I'm always seeking out new experiences and looking for unique ways in which to fulfill that desire on my part. Simbi has become a wonderful venue in which to carry that out.
