Making perfect French Press coffee

3

3 per session - Virtual OK - Posted Feb 11, 2017

I can teach you how to make the perfect batch (approximately two to four cups) of French Press Coffee with this classic process from the late 1920's that takes less than five minutes. Learn all of the necessary factors including the most appropriate grind for beans, the brewing process - along with my *fail-safe* time for steeping - and how to keep rogue grounds from ending up in your cup. Also, if you don't already have a French Press device or dedicated coffee beans on hand, I can suggest some products that I've grown fond of throughout my time in making coffee using this method.

Aside from the French Press, I've also used Percolators and drip machines. Personally, I've found this and drip methods to be the most reliable, but French-Press-made coffee always serves to let me show off my real cuppa-joe-capabilities to others. If you're not already familiar with what a cup of coffee made with the French Press tastes like, I can guarantee that you'll be impressed.

Training & Qualifications

I've been making coffee this way nearly every single morning for the past two years. By using the same steps consistently each time, my coffee always turns out the way I want it. Although I still like going into coffee shops every once in a while, making coffee at home with a French Press has saved me an enormous amount of driving time and money. I want to share that benefit with others on Simbi.

Availability & Preferences

I sent Chris some extra simbi because it's obvious he put a lot of work into what he wrote, and I think it's worth more than he charged :)

About Chris Bacavis

I'm a teacher, writer, editor, and researcher living in Colorado Springs. Outside of tutoring student writers on a regular basis, I've also worked as a senior research fellow with the Institute for Pu...blic Dialogue, a rabid freelancer partnering with businesses and non-profits, and a consultant filing numerous Freedom of Information Act requests on behalf of investigative reporters. My politically oriented and academic writing has been published on my own blog (blog.chrisbacavis.com), Reformed Libertarian, and Freedom Bunker, while my creative writing has been featured in Empirical Magazine, The Penwood Review, The Dial, and the short story collection Fireside Dreams. I earned my Bachelor's in English, with a Communication minor, from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS). Since then, I've continued to do English/communication tutoring, freelance editing, and research work for more than a dozen business, creative, and education-oriented clients. I also have at least two years of experience in editing written content for self-published authors, specifically nonfiction/journalism, fiction, and short stories. I'm most motivated by opportunities that I know will benefit and shape me in terms of developing relationships, acquiring skills, and building in knowledge. As such, I'm always seeking out new experiences and looking for unique ways in which to fulfill that desire on my part. Simbi has become a wonderful venue in which to carry that out. show more
