Pitch me your Movie or Show

10

10 per hour - Virtual OK - Posted May 29, 2017

It doesn't matter how large or small. If you've got an idea for a movie, hit me up and we'll chat about it. I love nothing more than sitting around and breaking down films to put them back together. I'd enjoy hearing what your idea is. I'll tell you if i dig it, and provide notes.

If you're a filmmaker who's about to try and do some fund raising, I can help you practice your pitch and help you spot any glaring questions that are going to be asked. We can practice it as much as you'd like, and really hammer out the pitch so you have a tight elevator two minute elevator pitch. That's not a lot of time, so getting an idea boiled down to just a series of blurbs can be tough. We'll hash it out.

I can also tell you some of the questions you're going to hear over and over again, and help you prepare some answers to those questions so you don't stand there with your mouth open like i have.

Or if you just always had this cool idea for a movie, you've always wanted to tell someone about it, hit me up. We could just chat about it and hash it out. That'd be fun.

As much or as little help as you need.

Training & Qualifications

I'm an independent filmmaker and writer. I've written and produced several short films, a couple pilots for shows, and a documentary. So I've been in the position of needing to pitch something a couple of times now. Whether it's collaborators who's help you need, or managers to help you organize and sell it, or even just people with money who want to buy the thing.

I've loved stories for as long as I can remember, and consider myself a student of story structure. Being an inside kid, I spent a lot of time daydreaming of weird scenarios or far away worlds. I haven't learned how to daydream less, I've just figured out that if you have a particularly cool idea, you can show it to other people, and they're appreciative for it. So, like the trope you always hear on tv or in movies about the kid who bought a radio or toaster and took it apart, just to put it back together again, I was doing the same thing to stories.

I love collaborating. Some of my favorite times in my life were when I was working on a project, and handed it off to a room of collaborators for each one of them to leave their mark on it as well. When you show someone else an idea, you pass it through the filter of that person's perspective, they help you tear out the parts that don't work, and then offer the best they have to the story. With each person it improves the thing until it's the best version of that thing. Then when your audience connects to it, they connect to not just you, but everyone who helped along the way. It's beautiful really.

Availability & Preferences

I'm usually free in the early mornings every day, and random times intermittently that you can message me to find out.

Trading Preference: I prefer being paid in simbi
