Creative Sounding Board
10
Need an outside perspective on a creative project? Working on something meaningful to you and feeling stuck? I will gladly brainstorm with you, listen to your ideas, and bounce thoughts around to help you bust any blocks between you and your creative goal. Sometimes all you need is someone else to listen and suddenly the cobwebs clear and you're on your way to success. Artists of all kinds need to network and brainstorm together in order to do what we do. Let me be that support for you. I especially know that it can be crucial to talk through things with a stranger. Friends are great, but sometimes they know you too well and make assumptions based on what they know of you. I'm a clean slate with a fresh perspective to offer.
I will give you 30 minutes of focused brainstorm/sounding board time via Skype. If you have any material I need to look over ahead of time, you can send it to me so I can be prepared for our session. If the prep will be especially long, we may need to negotiate a different Simbi/service trade to compensate my time spent. We can work it out!
What kinds of projects am I talking about? Here are some ideas, but the sky's the limit!
*Poetry
*Short Stories
*Novels
*D&D Campaigns
*Scripts
*Plotting
*Thesis development(for a paper, admissions essay, etc.)
*Title development (for your book, business, recipe--heck, I'll even help you brainstorm names for your unborn child!)
*Dreaming up your own small business
*Birthday party themes/decorations/activities
*You name it!
Training & Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Theatre and English
I am a trained writing tutor. Most of the training involves learning how to help people develop and express ideas, so even if your project doesn't involve writing, I have a skill set that can at least help you successfully brainstorm your brilliant ideas and start laying the groundwork for putting your ideas into action.
I am also a professional teaching artist in theatre and have worked on many devised theatre pieces from scratch. I know how to take ideas and make them into something meaningful.
I also write murder mystery games, so I am well versed in taking a bunch of pieces (clues and deceptions) and weaving them together into something cohesive and fun.
All of these qualifications mean that I am skilled in problem solving and creating one big project out of many piecemeal ideas.
Availability & Preferences
I'm a stay at home mom these days, so I can be fairly flexible. Evenings might be the easiest, but we can work out day time and weekend sessions as needed.
