Plants and gardening help

10

10 per unit - Virtual OK - Posted Sep 02, 2017

I know a lot about plants but I'm new to Simbi and I didn't really understand what services were even offered or how this all works, so honestly this is kind of just filler...

So how about this: you ask me your gardening and plant-related questions, send me pictures, and whatever else you need to do in order for me to best understand your question or the problem you are trying to solve. I will then spend half an hour with you, (or longer if it's super interesting and I'm learning too!) including internet research as we talk, answering the question to the best of my ability and helping solve whatever problem you have. Hey, I know a lot but there are soooo many plants and soooo many different climates and growing conditions depending on where you live, so give me a break here.

Examples of random questions:
What the heck is this plant in the landscaping at my house? I just moved here and I don't know what it is!
(commence picture taking, me asking you to smell it, furiously using dichotomous keys I find online etc.)

Why are the bottoms of my tomatoes turning black and rotting off on the plant??

Is this bug bad for my plants?

Can you please explain to me what all these numbers mean on this fertilizer bag?

What is the meaning of life?

Anyway, stuff like that. Or really anything plant/food related that you can think of. Regardless, I'll make sure you learn a lot!

Training & Qualifications

I have a bachelor of science in horticulture from Texas A&M University.
I did an internship during school at a small organic fruit and vegetable farm on campus.
I work at the U.S. National Arboretum.
Also I worked at restaurants for a couple years during college and I like to cook!
Plus, I grew up with a big vegetable garden and I'm just a plant nerd in general.

Trading Preference: I’m flexible, just hit me up!

Started growing a few spices in my apartment window based on Keith's recommendation. They're growing nicely, thanks again!
