Learn how to use a hand drum

15

15 per session Virtual OK

Learn how to play a hand drum such as a djembe, ashiko, or tar. Buffalo drums are also an option.
I will go over beginners techniques and rhythms, and how to minimize pain when first playing.
We can also explore the different types of drums and how similar and different they are from each other.

Training & Qualifications

I have been drumming for over a decade on my own and in the occassional drum circle, including leading drum circles. I am also a graduate of the Soundwork as Soulwork program.

Availability & Preferences

Saturday late afternoon or evening, most Sundays, and Monday before 3pm.

Trading Preference: I’m flexible, just hit me up!

About Megan Oswald

I have many diverse passions so it is difficult to focus on just a few! I am a Martial Artist and teach Karate and Tai Chi, which I have been studying since 1997 at an awesome school that combines... both traditional and progressive aspects. We study Goju Ryu Karate, which translates to hard & soft style, incorporating both within the training. I am also a Priestess of multiple paths: Priestess of Avalon, of Brighid, of the Deer Mother/Elen of the Ways, and of Gaia. I've trained in England as well as online and on my own, forming new paths, connections, and understanding with each new year. Additionally I have studied many forms of holistic healing, such as Reiki and aromatherapy, and I also have basic knowledge of dozens of other forms of healing through the Holistic Health Practitioners Program many years ago as well. I love RPG computer games and fantasy novels, and have even run NWN2 servers online as a DM and admin. We also like many board games too :). I also love nature and animals, going hiking, canoeing, and camping. I love to sing and play hand drums, but most often when no one else can hear me! Traveling to sacred sites and interesting places around the world is also high on my list, and I have been to three continents thus far. I'd love to be able to live in a modern & tek savvy permaculture community that is fully self sustainable with renewable building methods and energy sources, trading what you can offer for what you need - just like here on Simbi. For now though, I'm in an apartment in the city. While I am more typically an ambivert, and spend a fair bit of time on my own, I also love to help setting up groups like this that are in alignment with my goals and ideals.
