I have a bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting Studies that I completed at the tender young age of 36 (late bloomer I guess). I am practicing in multiple ways right now, to prepare myself for the national certification exam. To wit: I currently work full time as an interpreter and part time as a direct service provider for developmentally disabled adults, who also happen to be Deaf. This way I can keep my connections to the Deaf community, while I am getting good real world practice, and also waiting for governmental/organizational red tape and testing requirements.
Otherwise, I am a country boy moved to the suburbs. So I am the only person on my street who cuts his own firewood instead of buying it. I love being outdoors and working with my hands. I am not a true handyman, as I am not real great at a lot of handyman things, like drywall in particular, but I do have experience in many many types of household maintenance and upkeep... So there are a lot of things I can do.
