Is anyone out there into eating bugs For The Planet?? I'm really interested in this but I have a hard time finding anyone to talk to about it. I'm interested in recipes, the best places to source edible insects, and personal anecdotes. It'd be a huge plus if I met someone who has even dabbled in raising their own "herds," but, given that the simbi search for "entomophagy" didn't produce ANY results, I'm not holding my breath. Just on a quest for like minds. :)

Major Life Makeover: Here I sit, at a li'l cafe in my new town, drinking tea and a beer trying to do a mega do-over on my life. THERE ARE NO DO-OVERS! Ahh, but there are! Sort of. Anyways, I...'m here in Corvallis because I actually, after three years of trying to get into tattooing in Washington State, have an opportunity here to learn from someone who wants to teach! Hallelujah; I'm ecstatic... except that now I have my work cut out for me and Holy F**k, I'm not in the habit of all of this rigor. Yet. Anyway, it's gonna be awesome. I'm gonna miss the li'l pitty-in-a-chihuahua-body I left back in Washington, though. I keep thinking I'm going to end up with an exotic pet eventually but then I inevitably fall in love with someone else's dog. I know there's an exotic bird rescue near here where I can volunteer and get to know birds... and an hour away there's a small aquarium that has a real live OCTOPUS! (not that I'm any kind of advanced enough to be a cephalopod momma. Especially not an octopus; them things are SMART!). But I'm gonna go visit it sometime... and then again and again and again. I'm curious about all kinds of things that are gonna save the plant. Natural and sustainable building materials and how to use them, green burial, eating BUGS (mmmm, buuggggsssss), herbs and permaculture, minimalism.... I've moved in with minimalist roommates and the other day the dish detergent disappeared because, apparently, it's "too much" to have in the house. I'm going to win them back with natural dish detergent though. Call me old fashioned, but I like to wash grease off a pan with soap. Unless it's cast iron, of course. I also am just looking for the moment to spring back into drawing comics. a long-lost love of mine, it'll come back to me soon enough, soon enough.... *sigh*show more
