Meditation Instruction
60
My classes are influenced by my practice of Vipassana meditation. Insight meditation (vipassana in Pali, the language of the original Buddhist teachings) is the simple and direct practice of moment-to-moment mindfulness. Through careful and sustained observation, we experience for ourselves the ever-changing flow of the mind/body process. This awareness leads us to accept more fully the pleasure and pain, fear and joy, sadness and happiness that life inevitably brings. As insight deepens, we develop greater equanimity and peace in the face of change, and wisdom and compassion increasingly become the guiding principles of our lives.
I also have studied other forms of mediation and can personalize the meditation to fit your specific desires and goals.
Training & Qualifications
I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years and instructing for over a decade. My first 5 years of study were with Iyengar yoga. Since then, I have studied the Anusara teachings with former senior Anusara teacher, Katchie Ananda. I am currently pursuing a Yoga Therapy certification with The Niroga Institute. Most of my life has lived in Morehouse, an intentional community focused on pleasurable group living through self-awareness. My study of Buddhist, Tantric and Morehouse philosophies influence my teachings, bringing greater understanding of the human experience into my lessons.
