15 minute Japanese for beginners
10
Trying to self-teach yourself Japanese? Living in a non-Japanese-speaking country? Confused about certain phrases?
Or perhaps you're gearing up to visit Japan and don't want to be completely dumbstruck when people speak to you?
I might be able to help! I'm a native English speaker, and I learnt Japanese from scratch via a really great method - basically, our teachers spoke AT us and we were forced to respond. I found it worked really well, rapidly giving me the knowledge and confidence to have very basic conversations.
I'd like to offer to do the same for others. This is best done over Skype, though if you're only interested in reading and writing Japanese, I'm also happy to do it over a messenger service like Skype Messenger, Facebook Messenger, Google Chat.
Training & Qualifications
I studied intensive Japanese for a year in Tokyo.
But I also spent four years living in Japan, worked in a couple of service roles (as a gas station assistant and as a bartender!), did a lot of paid Japanese-English translation work, and gave several public talks and TV/newspaper interviews in Japanese - these are the experiences that really consolidated my Japanese language ability.
