I will answer your questions about fermenting, culturing or brining! Do you have a batch of beer that is stuck? Sauerkraut that is turning yucky? I can help you trouble shoot your fermentation problems, answer general questions, or give you some pointers on how to streamline your projects to make them easier and more likely to succeed!!

Fermenting is a great way to preserve an abundance of food, add complex flavors to foods and dishes, and save money by easily making fermented foods you're likely already buying!! Not to mention the health benefits that come from naturally cured and fermented foods! Fermented foods are loaded with probiotics! Just another way to save money and improve your gut health.

Training & Qualifications


I have been fermenting just about everything you can think of (and a few things you probably can't) for over 10 years! I regularly make my own yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, mead (honey wine), beer, brined meats (pastrami, corned beef), vinegars, kombucha, and the list goes on and on!! One year I made close to 300 gallons of mead!!!

About Nick Zemp

Hey! I'm Nick, a small business owner and full-time student. I'm one semester away from graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a chemistry minor. Previously, before returning to univers...ity for a "real" degree, I studied natural and herbal medicine. I'm a certified Western Herbalist, a certified Chinese Herbalist, and an Aromatherapist. I'm also super passionate about Ayurvedic medicine and all forms of therapeutic movement (i.e. yoga, qigong, tai-chi just to name a few). I run a small herbal clinic and apothecary in Utah and sell teas both in my shop, online, and to a few restaurants and coffee shops. I've always been passionate about good food and worked as a chef and a baker throughout my teens and early 20s. I've got some pretty awesome kitchen skills and some amazing recipes I've developed over the years. I also do a lot of fermentation, from wine and beer to sauerkrauts and kimchi and pretty much everything in between. In life I'm kind of a "Jack of All Trades." I've never been afraid of trying new things (in fact I actively search them out), and have a natural ability to become at least proficient at most things. I've had a vast array of different life experiences, and this has set me up to identify and relate to a broad spectrum of people from different cultures and walks of life.
